Surfing was very popular with locals and tourists alike in the 1950s and 60s. Basic boards were on sale at reasonable prices in many shops. Note the inflatable on the right of the photograph, these are not recommended now, with no form of control they can and do sometimes float out on the tide (with passenger/s on board). Therefore incurring either lifeguard or lifeboat assistance. |
